I’ve been binge-watching a series of videos over at the GTD Focus channel. Their coaches profile various clients and the productivity challenges they face. Each one has been impacted by GTD (Getting Things Done) in one way or another.
Me too. In face, it’s been the single most significant work-related influence in my life. Next to my faith as a Catholic and the teachings of the Church, GTD takes second place when it comes to how I work.
Back to the videos. After a week of maybe a dozen or so, it struck me that many of the problems discussed are no longer problems for me.
Sure, these issues were real for me at some point in my adult life. Not so much any more. The work gets easier with time.
But, and here’s the caveat, the real reason why work gets easier is not simply because you’re doing the same thing over and over again. Rather, it’s due to a trusted productivity system that forms the backend of your work.
The lists, the projects, the mindset, the habits, the weekly reviews- all of it. This is the spine that keeps the body upright.
The work does get easier and thank God for that.
